Commonwealth Games organising committee chairman, Suresh Kalmadi today asserted that all the 71 countries are participating in the Games.
Dismissing reports about any country withdrawing from the Games in the wake of yesterday's firing incident, Mr Kalmadi said elaborate security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident.
Mr. Kalmadi was speaking to reporters after a state of art main press centre, for the Games was inaugurated by the Information and Broadcasting minister Ambika Soni.
The largest press centre in the history of Commonwealth Games has been established at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi and will be functional from Thursday. Mr Kalmadi said this centre will cater to about 2,000 journalists including 750 from abroad.
He said the press centre will work round the clock from October 1st to 15th. Our correspondent reports the centre is spread across over 6,700 square metres and can accommodate 600 journalists at a time. A dedicated workforce of around 1,000 people will man the main press centre and other venues run by the Press Information Bureau.
